North Shore & East Maui Furnished Rentals
Pāʻia, Haʻikū, and Hāna: green, rainy, and slow-paced, from surf town to the end of the road.
Maui’s North Shore and East Maui are lush, rain-fed, and refreshingly unhurried. Pāʻia is a laid-back surf town, Haʻikū hides homes among jungle and waterfalls, and Hāna sits at the end of one of the world’s most famous drives. Out here, you slow down to the pace of the place, and that’s the gift.

Living in North Shore & East Maui
Pāʻia is the gateway, with surf shops, health food stores, and cafés a few minutes from the airport. Inland, Haʻikū and Huelo are green, rural, and quiet, with homes on big lots surrounded by jungle and streams.
Hāna is a world of its own: a small, close-knit, deeply Hawaiian community with limited services and a lot of rain. Living there means planning ahead, driving carefully, and being a respectful neighbor.
Neighborhoods
- Pāʻia: a lively surf town near Baldwin Beach and Hoʻokipa.
- Haʻikū: green, rural neighborhoods with homes among gulches and gardens.
- Huelo and Kailua: remote country along the first stretch of the Hāna Highway.
- Hāna: a small, traditional community at the end of the road.

North Shore & East Maui FAQ
Is the North Shore a good base for a month or more?
Pāʻia and Haʻikū are, with easy access to Kahului and lots of green space. Hāna is better for people who want true remoteness and are comfortable with limited services.
How long are rentals here?
Our listings start at 30 days, and each owner sets their own minimum. County rules shape how long many homes in residential areas can rent for, so see our rental rules by island for the general picture.
How far is the airport?
Kahului Airport (OGG) is about 15 minutes from Pāʻia, 25 minutes from Haʻikū, and 2.5 hours or more from Hāna.
Where is the nearest hospital?
Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku, run by Maui Health . Pāʻia is about 20 minutes away; from Hāna, it’s a long drive, so there’s a local clinic for everyday care.
Do I need reservations to visit sites along the road to Hāna?
Some, yes. Waiʻānapanapa State Park requires advance reservations, and many private waterfalls and stops are on private land. Stay on marked paths and respect closures.
