West Maui Furnished Rentals
Lahaina, Kāʻanapali, Nāpili, and Kapalua: a sunny coast with deep roots, still rebuilding after 2023.
West Maui holds some of Hawaiʻi’s most beloved shoreline and one of its most important histories. Lahaina was once the royal capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom, and since the August 2023 wildfire it has been a place of mourning as well as rebuilding. If you come for a longer stay, come gently: support local businesses, give residents room, and know that housing for displaced families comes first.

Living in West Maui
Most longer-stay rentals in West Maui are condos along the coast from Kāʻanapali to Kapalua, with sunsets over Lānaʻi and Molokaʻi and whales offshore in winter. North of Lahaina, daily life carries on with beaches, groceries, and small restaurants.
Lahaina town itself is rebuilding, and parts of it remain closed or under construction. County rules for many West Maui condos are also changing as the community works to return homes to residents; see the Maui County Council’s Bill 9 overview and our rental rules page for the general picture.
Neighborhoods
- Kāʻanapali: the resort coast, with condos, beaches, and walkable shops.
- Honokōwai and Kahana: a string of older oceanfront condos, often a better value.
- Nāpili: quiet bays, low-rise condos, and a slower pace.
- Kapalua: the greener, more exclusive northern end, with golf and protected bays.

Good to Know
- Parts of Lahaina remain restricted. Respect closures and signage.
- Rental availability and rules for West Maui condos are changing. Confirm terms in writing.
- The Honoapiʻilani Highway is the main road in and out, so traffic and closures can cause long delays.
- For hospital care, plan on a drive to Wailuku.
- Ask which utilities are included. Electricity costs far more here than on the mainland.
